Yay, so I met more people tonight. New people. They're all female but we all have something in common: the love of pottery! I joined this ceramics studio like right outside my house! Literally 5 minutes from my doorstep. It's a specialty place where you can sign up for these tiny classes of only 7 people. We each have our own wheel and we all sit in a circle. Our instructor is so awesome! She's so amazingly talented, sweet, hilarious, and just damn good at teaching me how to make stuff! So I only met three new women tonight, and other three were absent. But everyone in the class is somewhat older than me (in their late 20s or early 30s) but we are all kind of on the same page. We go to grad school or we go to work, and then throw on the wheel for three hours in the evening because we just love making clay pots. It really is a social thing, and they're all really cool. The studio itself is so cool too. It's really small, and half the time we work out of the "garage". And I made three bowls tonight. They look freakin' perfect, which shows how great of an instructor I have! And I seriously learned more about wheel throwing in this entire evening than I did my whole ceramic career at NYU. I made three different types of bowls. I'll take a picture once they're fired. But I can't wait till next week! Best $200 I've spent yet this year. I love this place! Although, I definitely forgot how tiring it was to throw on the wheel! You've got to have a lot of physical strength and patience... phew!
